چکیده

This paper presents a finite element (FE) analysis for predicting the flexural behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) beams strengthened with Fe-based shape memory alloy (Fe-SMA) strips using near surface mounted (NSM) method. Experimental results reported in literature were used to verify proposed FE model. analyses conducted OpenSees, general-purpose structural program. The RC beam specimens modeled nonlinear beam-column and fiber element. Concrete 02 model, Steel 01 Pinching 04 model applied concrete, steel reinforcement, Fe-SMA strip element, respectively, was carried out displacement control method based on Newton-Raphson this study accurately predicted initial crack load, yield ultimate load. From parametric analyses, it concluded that an increase compressive strength increases ductility specimen, level recovery stress stiffness specimen.

Experimental and Numerical Investigation of Two Fixed-End RC Beams Strengthened With CFRP Bars in NSM Method

Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) material is currently being produced in different configurations and widely used to strengthen and retrofit concrete structures and bridges. It is also possible to apply other strengthening methods without changing the appearance or the dimensions of the structure. Near Surface Mounted (NSM) is a recent strengthening method using CFRP bars (rods or laminate strips...

The Tension-Stiffening Contribution of NSM CFRP to the Behavior of Strengthened RC Beams

Tension stiffening is a characteristic behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) beams which is directly affected by the bond-slip property of steel bar and concrete interfaces. A beam strengthened with a near-surface mounted (NSM) technique would be even more affected by tension stiffening, as the NSM reinforcement also possess a bond-slip property. Yet assessing how much the tension stiffening of ...

Mechanical Model to simulate the NSM FRP strips shear strength contribution to RC beams

A three dimensional mechanical model has been recently developed to simulate the Near Surface Mounted (NSM) Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) strips shear strength contribution to Reinforced Concrete (RC) beams throughout the entire loading process, as function of the Critical Diagonal Crack (CDC) opening angle. It was developed by fulfilling equilibrium, kinematic compatibility and constitutive l...
